Incuabtion

@iBizAfrica business incubator carries out the Entrepreneurship and Incubation theme of @iLabAfrica. @iBizAfrica seeks to provide a nurturing environment that builds on the potential of the youth to develop ICT solutions and businesses that work for the common good in society. The theme focuses on the following areas:

  1. Fostering an environment for entrepreneurs to develop, nurture and exchange their innovative ideas.
  2. Providing mentoring and services to start-up companies such as seed capital, legal advice, financial expertise, relevant training and physical resources.
  3. Providing Business Incubation facilities and establish linkages with other incubation centres in the country and around the world.
  4. Forging industry partnerships.
  5. Acting as a focal point for investors (VCs, angel investors, private equity groups and banks) to engage potential technology entrepreneurs.

Working space will be on a first-come first-serve basis. Companies in this program are expected to use no more than 20-person hours per week of a working space during standard business hours (e.g. could be 2 people for 5 hours each over 2 days in one week, or 1 person for 4 hours per day in one week).

There are two packages available:

1.Resident Startup

  1. Dedicated Work-space with lockable desk and chair
  2. An office cubicle (upon availability) High Speed Wi-Fi and cable internet
  3. Access to networking opportunities. ccess to talks, meetups, conferences and competitions tailored for startup .
  4. Use of common Facilities and amenities
  5. Shared program boardroom and meeting area
  6. Access to Partner Services Free IP Advisory and Legal Support e
  7. Access to Financial Modeling and business valuation advisory (minimum criteria must be met)
  8. Mailing Address ,Access Badge
Price Kshs.12,000 per seat per month in the open plan office,Kshs.25,000 per month per office cubicle(Upon Availability)

2.Incubator Startup

  1. Dedicated work-space with lockable desk and chair in the open plan office
  2. 5 % discount on work-space per extra seat taken upto 5 seats
  3. Access to boardrooms and meeting rooms with audio visual
  4. Mentorship and Coaching
  5. Lean Startup Training Access to seed funding and investors
  6. Networking Opportunities, Access to talks, meetups, conferences and competitions tailored for startups
  7. Access to Partner Services
  8. Free IP Advisory and Legal support
  9. Access to Financial modeling and business valuation advisory (minimum criteria must be met)
  10. Mailing Address, Shared facilities and amenities, Access Badge
Kshs.9000 per seat per month in the open plan office

Company Commitment

Participating companies will be asked to sign an agreement, and to commit to the use of the space for at least 6 months and up to one year. @iBizAfrica reserves the right to monitor usage of the space and amend the agreement if the space is not being used for the intended purpose. Applicants are asked to submit the following information to ibizafrica@strathmore.edu :

  1. Company name
  2. Name of Principal(s) and contact information
  3. Package desired (and if dedicated space the number of spaces required)
  4. Desired start date
  5. An executive summary of the business plan, including a brief description of the current stage of the company and what is expected to be achieved over the time that they are located at the @iBizAfrica Space (not to exceed 4 pages)
  6. Desired duration (in months, between 6 months and 1 year)
  7. 2 references
Applications will be evaluated by the @iBizAfrica Selection Committee and rated according to soundness of business plan and how well the space will assist the company in the 6 to 12 months.
